Newborn Screen

The state requires that a newborn screen be performed after 24 hours of life and prior to discharge from the hospital. Currently this blood work includes tests for PKU, galactosemia, thyroid disorders, sickle cell disease, adrenal hyperplasia, cystic fibrosis, as well as several other rare metabolic diseases. We usually receive a result at the office in two weeks. You will only be called if the results are abnormal.
